Does the iMac computer recognize galaxy note 4 phone? When I connect the usb from my phone to my computer it does not recognize my phone

Try installing Google's Android File Transfer software on the iMac.
The problem is that Android 4 uses MTP for USB connections, and MTP is a Microsoft protocol and not one that Macs recognise out of the box. Android File Transfer should fix that.
