Image Gallery w/ SQLite & Other Stuff

I think trying to explain what I'd like is harder than it should be.

What I am trying to build is an application that shows images in a specific manner.

In the background, I need a database with 2 tables. One table named "sets" with fields: setid, title, imagecount. Another table named "image" with fields: imageid, setid, title. The entries into this database will be managed by me. Users will not be able to add to this database themselves, just through updates.

When you open the application, it will show two buttons: one for "New Image Sets" and one for "Check for Updates."

If you click "New Image Sets" it will take you to a new activity that will use SQLite to list out sets of images. If you click on one of the sets that are listed out, it will take you to another new activity that will use SQLite to show the images in that set. It will show one image at a time; when you click on that said image, it will take you to the next image in the group. When you reach the end of the images in that set, it will end the activity, sending you back to the New Image Sets activity. Pretty simple.

If you click "Check for Updates" it will check to see if a new row has been entered into the "sets" table. If there is a new entry, it will download the image files for that set from my server. (I am unsure as to whether I should just update tables in the application via Market Play when a new set is added, or just do all set updates through my own servers. That's something I'd need advice on.)

This is an incredibly simple application, but I can't seem to build it correctly. I have gone through crazy amounts of tutorials and they don't work for what I want. If someone is able to help me for free, I would appreciate it. I am also willing to pay someone for their time if necessary.
