Help Image preview on computer

With my old HTC when I connected it to the computer It was like a USB and I could easily view all my files, including previewing photos. With the samsung galaxy s3 the computer thinks it is a camera. When I go into the photos folder it does not display a preview of the images, extremely annoying when trying to locate one photo from hundreds! Is there anyway to fix this?
 
The only workaround that I have found for that is to to use the Samsung Kies Air app that comes with the phone. You can wirelessly transfer all your photos music etc. and they do show up as the picture thumbnails themselves so you can see which ones you want to transfer. I had to use Firefox for the program to work. It didn't work in Internet Explorer for me. It's really convenient. I'm glad I figured out how to use it from another post because I didn't even know what it was used for.
 
Thanks. This worked for my ipad but yeah not computer on IE. I also need to download photos at work where we have IE. Has anyone else come across a solution? I can't believe the supposedly best phone on the market can have such a fundamental flaw.
