images appearing in my gallery

i just realize there are several pictures in my gallery that seems like they were ad pictures. there are 4 folders in gallery (camera shots, all photos, all videos, all downloads), plus there are 3 pics. 4 folders and 3 pics sitting on the gallery home screen. i clicked into the "all photos" folder and these 3 photos were inside the folder as well.

anyone know where they may have came from? they appear to be capital one credit card ad pics. and why are they sitting in the home screen inside gallery and again inside the "all photos" folder?

I've been getting some random pics as well. I'm "thinking" that is due to some lag when browsing the web...when pressing the screen while navigating a website, a long press may be getting registered, without you seeing, and whatever pic you happen to be on gets copied/downloaded.

Sometimes I have pictures of html-emails in my download folder.
Not a big issue :)

I think I have your answer. I've been looking for one myself as when these ads are installed on my phone, it runs low on memory. Also, my phone doesn't notify me that these ads were downloaded. So annoying.

Shazam is partnering with Cap One, and with Shazam now offering free unlimited tagging, they are uploading Cap One ads (their sponsor) on our phones. The way to avoid it? Buy the premium version of Shazam.

So wrong.

There's an article on TechCrunch called "Shazam Ditches The Monthly Tagging Limits for iOS and Android Devices".

yep I just deleted Shazam for this and Words with Friends for this, I dont think its right that they download and put ads into your phone.

FWIW, this hasn't happened on my Senation (yet), but it did happen on my MT4G. It wasn't just images from ads. I got a lot of pictures from Facebook. For example, I'd have pics that were on my friends fb pages. It was weird seeing a random pic of a friend's husband in my gallery, lol.

i have no problem with it if its just bc they are pics from app sponsors. i'll justdelete them if i see any. i just wanted to make sure it has nothing to do with the recent news that htc device was being compromised (or somewhere along the lines).

Same thing here. The first I noticed was an ad for Terra Nova. I also got the Capitol one ads. Kinda crappy business practices if you ask me. There is no way that generates any kind of revenue. If any thing it made me less likely to watch Terra Nova.

I don't think Capitol One or the Terra Nova peeps "planted" these pics in your device. If you had visited a website with these ads, there's a chance that they could end up in your gallery (which is what we can't figure out how it happens). Like I mentioned, I got a few pics from facebook, including a pic of a friend's husband. I hardly think he put it there lol. But somehow that pic got into my gallery when I visited my friend's fb page.

I have had numerous pics showing up from emails via activesync (nitrodesk inc) and it is a pain because when I want to add my pics to my pc I have to delete images I never intended on being there in the first place
