Help IMEI Number Removed on S2 - No Custom ROM Used no Upgrade

naqi

Newbie
Hi All,
So one day 12 months after having this phone I realise that it appears to be in airplane mode - or at least the icon for airplane mode is displayed - because when I checked via settings my phone is actually no in airplane mode. Anyway what this basically meant was I was unable to connect to my provider. I did some searching and it appears my IMEI number has somehow been wiped.
So I have the following questions:
1. Has anyone experienced this? I've not done anything different to the phone like upgrading to ICS - I'm still on Ginger bread.
I didn't load a custom ROM either - so is something like this possible? ie the IMEI number being wiped - possibly by a virus ? Is the only thing I can think of?
2. How can I go about restoring my IMEI number is it possible ?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
-Naqi

so i downloaded the ktool from hell cat and it appears to have at least resolved my IMEI number - i can now connect to my provider - since my IMEI is back - does anyone know what could have caused this to happen in the first place are there some known issues that can cause this?

I take it you rooted your phone as ktool will only work on rooted devices. Although it's unlikely and doesn't happen too often, flashing anything with Odin can sometimes wipe your efs folder and remove your imei. So I guess when you rooted with Odin you were one of the unlucky ones.

Actually I did not root my phone - I only got it rooted when this issue popped up. so that I could use ktool and try and restore my imei. So I'm still not sure how my imei could have been wiped - is it a possible a virus could do this? I have dowloaded and installed cracked games on my phone?

I'm not sure then. As I said it is a rare occurrence and the few times I've seen it happen was with an Odin flash
