Root Immediate Fixes needed IF Root EVER arrives

EDIT
POST - SOFTWARE UPDATE -

Scrolling has become very buggy.

During calls:
Notification dropdown STILL overlays phone dialer screen AND / OR screen goes dark, this especially interferes with automated prompts... has occurred from Day 1.

Those of you who've enabled VOLTE CALLING, may have noticed random or constant Beeping issues - sometimes only on one end of the call.

Phone runs a bit warmer.

Latency is much higher - seemingly compensating for fixing dropped signals, which not 100% fixed but are seldom now.

Lost Quick Charge / charging slower now.

ALARMS work sporadically...from Day 1.

What other things would you fix?

1. LTE fix.
1a. Setting that will actually auto toggle between ALL: LTE, HSPA, etc. when / as needed.
1b. Enhanced modem settings.

2. Fix screen flicker(especially noticeable on Dolphin browser).

3. Fix Sensors:
Try to use phone when lying down and watch it go mad crazy with flickers / switches between screens and apps.

4. Lockscreen:
A. More than 1 Trusted Place @ Smart Lock.
B. Various annoying glitches.

5. Fingerprinting - needs various fixes, just like Lock Screen... of note:
A. Don't work to(@ bypass Lock Screen) Answer Call or Take Picture.

6. Dialer-
A. @ incoming call gets covered by a dropdown of Notifications.
B. During call screen sleeps almost right away(irregardless of Sleep settings).
C. Deleting individual items from Call History is very kludgy & non-intuitive.
D. Adding number from call history to Contacts requires too many taps.
E. Etc.

7. Exit Notify dropdown with 1 tap.

8. Change Dpi Setting(without bugs).

9. Remove carrier name @ Start & Notify.

10. Fix scrolling - freezes at times.

11. Enhanced Doze settings.

12. Ditto Ram use... anyhow, 2 GB not really enough.

I'm sure I've forgotten some & plain missed others...

Not so sure if some of these can be fixed, mostly because of the internal hardware we're given, but I'd most definitely like to remove the carrier name off the status bar; What a waste of space. I know what carrier I'm on.

However, you can change the DPI already using adb shell, no root required. I used "adb shell wm density 400 && adb reboot" and I don't notice any issues with system apps like the camera or others things; looks a ton better than the default 480.

I did same with adb shell. Fixed all the flicker issues by taking density to 400.
I have not had issues with the sensors at all.
Agree the lock screen sucks
Dialer / Call settings is horrible to navigate

I found an article for Autoroot v4.7.1 posted on Oct 6th. It says it will now root the Z981 however i am quite skeptical at this stage as i figure a lot of ppl here and at xda would have posted about it by now if it were successful.

I overall enjoy this device, i do like that ZTE did not bug it all down with a bunch of their own branded crap.
I just want root so i can play with settings and what not on my own.

Of course if i wanted an established root then i should have gone with a samsung galaxy, or LG phone model.

Carrier logo also a security risk + arrogant troll feeder.

I tried all Dpi numbers with no success(avoiding flickering)... & didn't want to go changing lockscreen / launcher / fingerprint reader, which besides the extra time would also result in some lost functionalities.

That's very shrewd / risk-adverse on your part.
To contrast this, there's a poster @ a different phone wanting to try a found fix that supposedly enables a missing advanced function 1-1/2 years later - supposedly overlooked both here and "across the street" ďespite a dedicated thread @ each.
(being purposefully vague to protect the innocent)

This can easily fix the statusbar issue...https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.notyos10.notifyphone

Consider yourself lucky... My device only excepts 480.. anything lower, and the screen flashes along with taking down my wallpaper and putting the default "MetroPCS" wallpaper that comes out of the box back up.. Thank Goodness Nova Prime and a simple font adjustment to "Small" basically accomplishes the same thing..

Same here. I've never seen a phone that produces so many different issues for different people.
Different factories have got to be in play - for final product and / or components.

I never had any of the problems you listed even in the first post. What I did have is screen flicker like we all had but I just played Minecraft just now. Since before the update, my screen flickers so many times while playing it but remarkably, no screen flickers since the update. I actually am impressed.

I just tried the scrolling on chrome and dolphin. No lags.

I can say though that one of my fingerprint stop working. The other fingerprint still works for some reason. The one that stop working is the one I mostly use.

Okay just tested both my registered finger print and it's both working again. WTF. LOL.
