import ics file from a webserver

I have downloaded all apps that had to do with ICS files but none seem to import an ics file from an external webserver correctly

iCal Import/export: tried with the promising "Set URL" but got a parse erro
UniSynCal : tried to insert an http:// in "Cal file" but got an error an "Read file entries"
Ics Bot: can't open this one

Am I doing something wrong?
Is there another way without going through Google Calendar?

have you tried CalendarSync? I use this app and it works really well. It can handle calendar informations from different sources like file system, ftp, http, caldav, webdav and so on. I use it to sync my cooperate calendar and on my phone it handled really complex appointments very well.
