i have a brain dead evo v that happened durring s-off i been told it will come too. when?idk maybe never but heres what i did differant on my second phone
1 i wore mechanic gloves rubber coated
2 i taped the crap out of the papper clip i was using
3 be ready to do wire trick if your nervous and hands are shaking like mine get the papperclip aligned with the outer hole in it barely but not touching the metal plate yet not til it says "do wire trick"
4 it says to do wire trick after backups and it makes room for beer on sd card after that be ready then double tapp it as many times as your able to then you should be good , if not you may have to take your battery out and try again
5 i was stuck in joupunut bear boot until i finished and ran these commands you can use git bash or when your in the {controlbear folder} hold shift + right click. open command window ,
*then run "controlbear.exe -r" that resets phone to normal the "controlbear.exe -f" (that gets you out of the joupunutbear boot )
*again it may take a couple times or 10 you know it works when the bar on the right starts off red then green and you reboot
i hope this is helpful and anyproblems you can go to Unlimited i.o. .com

I appreciate the help, but is there anyway you can clean up your instructions? It would make it much easier to read for me and others. Thanks.

i didn't have a problem with the wire trick, and I was using bare hands and a paper clip. Maybe i just got lucky.

Uh yeah, I mean it's just common sense to protect your expensive toys from static discharging into their internals. Don't you ground yourself before installing ram or a cpu onto a motherboard? Same thing applies here if not more so because we can't actually see what it is that we're grounding out.

I've never really found problems when I don't ground. Knock on wood.

OP's picture made me lol

In my opinion regardless of the way it was written up it gets the point across..the most important thing is that we document the experience that we had doing s-off...the worse of an experience the better..this way any New people that come along and attempt the wire trick and s-off, they can learn from our early mistakes..and right away know what worked well and what didn't..

hey im just trying to prevent this from happening i did use tape and was very careful when i was trying and killed my phone.i started with speaker wire but hey i seem to be the only person reporting this prob. im just trying to show a way to do it w/out being worried

Learned my lesson from vaporizing a $300 Radeon 4890 a few years back, talk about having a bad day. :-\ That picture was hilarious though.
:O. I think I accidentally ground myself whenever I install PC components. but I'll try to make sure I always do.

I was over a friends house on the 4th and he wanted his phone s-off. Long story short, this man has no tools at all. While trying to find a wire to use it suddenly dawned on me. A twist tie, yep a simple twist tie from our hotdog buns worked perfectly, first shot. So anyone who's looking around the house for paper clips and tape can just forget it. Grab a tie wrap, remove 1/2 inch of plastic from each end and your golden.
