Help Importing a phone

Hi guys,

I want to import a Sony C5 Ultra to Canada. This phone is apparently only sold in India and Hong Kong.

If I were to import it to Canada, would I have any trouble using it on Canadian networks? I want to use the phone's full 4G LTE capabilities.

Depends which carrier you're on, if it's CDMA, such as Bell, then it won't work. Same with CDMA carriers in the US.

Something to be aware of, Sony Canada will NOT provide warranty service for this phone, as it's only sold in Asia. So any problems with it, you'll probably have to ship it back at your expense to HK, or wherever it came from.

I just been looking at that, looks like Canadian carriers might be shutting down their CDMA networks in next year or two. Which is all the better if you do want to import exotic phones from Hong Kong or Taiwan etc...

...that was always the thing with CDMA, you usually only could have what the particular carrier offered, and difficult or impossible to use a device of entirely your own choice, like Sony Xperia C5 Ultra or Oppo Find 7.
