Importing Video

I'm new to Android,but i've had smartphones.I've had an iphone and win mobile phones. I'm not sure I'm understanding how to import video to the droid. I tried just making a folder on the sd card and pasting a video(mp4) in it, but the droid doesn't recognize it.Then i used Motorola media link, it worked, but the picture quality didn't seem as sharp on the droid than it did on the iphone(didn't compress it when i transferred) and can't seem to figure out how to expand video to fill screen. Help Please

btw, i encoded some movies for droid, and they look AMAZING. it's very easy to do, and did i mention they look f'ing AMAZING?
