Improving sound quality

Just taken my nexus 7 on its first overseas trip. Was looking forward to using it to watch movies on the plane. However was very disappointed with the sound quality even with good quality headphones . Could not get the sound loud and clear against the background of the aircraft cabin. Then I discovered Volume + app in the play store. Installed it in time for the return trip and wow what a difference, in my view this is a must have app.

Volume app works good. Bose or Jambox in the right situation works great.

I don't need the volume app. I use Bose QC15's when flying. I can hear very subtle, quiet sounds from the N7, when using those headphones in a 737. Bought mine over a year ago. Just got my wife a pair--she absolutely loves those headphones.

I use speaker boost - finally was able to hear movies on a plane with $10 Sony sport headphones.

Volume + works well with my Klipsch ear buds. Have to set at about +17 for simple volume boost. And about the same place if I use the equalizer. I prefer the equalizer in Volume+ to the straight speaker boost. I never got much headphone boost out of speaker boost. Good to know there are several things that work.

The only time I need a boost is when using the internal speaker.
