In call (voice) muting help

Especially now with the 2.2 upgrade moving the mute to the menu pop up, I'm wondering if there is some way to easily mute the phone during a call. I'm not talking about ringer mute, but the voice mute during a conversation. WOuld be really helpful to have mute easily accessible, especially since background noise from driving really plays havic on conference calls.

I've tried tasker, setting up a profile that would toggle the mute with the camera button push while the phone application is on, but that doesn't work (didn't with 2.1 either).

I've searched for some sort of app that could do this, but nothing, though I'm not sure if i'm not searcing for the right thing.

Ideally I'd like to be able to hit the camera button or even some gesture move that mutes the phone without having to wait for proximity sensor to turn the phone screen back on, choose the correct phone page, hit menu, and then hit mute.

Thanks in advance...if I can solve this, my phone will be perfect!!

You could try creating a profile that recognizes a gesture or perhaps the phone orientation, say with the phone upside down or on it's right side(so you can still have it next to your ear).
