In-call volume

I just recently purchased my xperia s a few days ago
when i started using it to call people i could hear them perfectly but now for some reason the volume of the speaker has dropped and i can now barely hear anything the other person is saying to me

ive tried repairing it on pc companion and i have looked through the settings but i can not find anything that can fix this
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! :(
 
Silly question, I know, but have you tried adjusting the volume using the volume switch at the side of the phone?
 
The only other thing I can think is that there's a fault with the phone.

My friend also bought an Xperia S, having seen how pleased I was with mine. However, very soon after getting it, it started playing up during calls. If I was talking to her, the tone would get really 'tinny', and it also started to sound as if she was pressing the dialing keys (you know the tones you get with them). It would then just cut out. Whilst not exactly the same as your issue, it's similar. she only fixed it by getting it repaired. Took a couple of weeks, but now everything's OK.
