Root In call volume

I'm running TDM's AOKP41 RC2. But, it really shouldn't matter much which rom for this question. I also use go dialer.

I'm finding that my in call volume is unreasonably loud sometimes. Ofc, my wife is pretty loud anyway. However, even with the volume set to 1 I often can't hold the phone to my ear.

Is there anyway to create more steps for the volume control? Or perhaps tweak what levels the volume numbers correlate to?

Press vol up, then down. I found that just trying to turn down call volume doesn't work if I don't go up first.
