in car sounds

Hi

I have the S4, and have tried to connect to the in car sound system via usb, but although the usb is recognised, the in car system says that it cannot read the device.
What can i do to solve this and play my music through the in car system??
thanks

Highly likely I won't be able to help, all my cars use Bluetooth sync and they work flawlessly. But it could be helpful for other users with more experience, if you would specify the maker or year of the vehicle. As I said, I have no problems in a new Volvo and two different BMWs, all of which are no more than year old. I suppose it's a specific to your vehicle rather than device itself.

A lot of vehicles support i-products to sync through usb, but not Android or any other. Either check with Lexus (I'm pretty sure they'll tell you it only supports Apple), or look in your car owners manual.
I have the same issue with an aftermarket stereo, and have to use the aux-in.
bummer, but eventually they'll support Android beacuse they realize there is a large customer base to attract.

ok, thanks. the car is a lexus on a 60 plate. my wifes ipod works through the usb cable on the system
I believe the technical reason this doesn't work in you car USB port is that Samsung (and many others) have switched from the older UMS (USB Mass Storage) protocol to the newer MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) on the USB port. Many car stereos do not support MTP (although they often do support iPhone specific protocols).

Aux in (or bluetooth through the aux in) is probably your best bet.
