It's definitely worth having the Amazon App on my phone. Most of the time they giveaway games, but occasionally there have been high quality system tools too. One thing to keep in mind though is Amazon doesn't update the apps as quickly as Google does in the "Market". For some system tools, such as Juice Defender, that can be a problem.

Amazon recently updated their app software and I find it more user friendly than the new Market software. Better than both of them is AppBrain though IMHO.
 
Another thing a lot of people may not know is that you can "save" the free Amazon app on their site, and download and install it at a later date.
