2 I am not very computer savy so i am willing to pay for the time of someone helping me set all this up. you must have PayPal or live in the Daytona area .
Hey thanks guys

Here are some ideas of things your device could do while mounted:

Set the volume to max so you don't miss notifications/calls
Read received SMS out loud
Enable speakerphone automatically when in a call (incoming or outgoing)
Accept a call as soon as the phone rings
Inform your spouse if you're leaving work later than usual

If you need any help with these, just shout.

Hey I need a lot of help and like i said in my post ,i am willing tocompensate for the help.

Let's start with these:

Profile: Docked
State > Hardware > Docked

Task: Enable Car Mode
Audio > Silent Mode: off
Audio > Ringer Volume: 7
Audio > Media Volume: 15
Variables > Variable set %MyCarMode = on
Alert > Flash: "Car mode enabled"

Exit Task: Disable Car Mode
Audio > Silent Mode: off (not compulsory, on my phone this task is used to set it to its default setup)
Audio > Ringer Volume: 3
Audio > Media Volume: 3
Variables > Variable set %MyCarMode = off
Alert > Flash: "Car mode disabled"

---

Profile: Call While In Car
Event > Phone > Phone offhook
State > Variables > Variable Value > %MyCarMode matches on

Task: Enable Speakerphone
Audio > Speakerphone > on

---

Profile: SMS While In Car
Event > Phone > Received Text: Type = SMS
State > Variables > Variable Value > %MyCarMode matches on

Task: Read SMS Out Loud
Audio > Notification Volume: Level = 0
Media > Music Play: "path of a ringtone"
Task > Wait: 3 secondes
Misc > Say: Text = %SMSRN sent the following message: %SMSRB
Audio > Notification Volume: Level = 7

For the last task, I was forced to mute the notifications temporarily and play the ringtone manually because the notification would sound at the same time as the SMS was being read, which would cover it.

OK well first I'm going to permanently mount the tablet in my dash. I have it already wired to be able to charge and to allow music out via stereo jack to aftermarket HU. When i start the car i have a toggle switch that allows me to turn on the power to the tablet in order for it to start charging.
Here is a list of something that i would like to make it do if at all possible.

Power up
Weather : report every 30 mins announced
Text recieved: alert and option to have it read
Incoming call: will doing anything on the tablet
Short Stop: Less than 30 min
Long stop: More than 30 min
Power Down:

Hey if you think of anything else please let me know.

If you're constantly in Car/Docked mode, then forget about the 1st profile and for the other 2, remove the context that checks the value of %MyCarMode.

For the received text, if you want the ability to choose to get it read or not, you probably will have to use a scene, which is more work.

What do you mean by these:
Incoming call: will doing anything on the tablet
Short Stop: Less than 30 min
Long stop: More than 30 min

For the weather, this will be a good starting point: Gets and Speaks Weather for Current Location in Morning - Tasker Wiki (no credits to me).
Or that: Task for Tasker that speaks the weather forecast [Download] - Pocketables

Well I want to be able to take a call while im in navigation mode without having to leave it and then return straight back to nav
Short stop well i think for this one it should just put the screen to sleep, not sure what else i want there yet
long stop ,screen sleep , toggle off Bluetooth ,WiFi,power saving mode, kill all appsnot essential
I hope that this helps

To answer a call automatically:

Profile: Call Received While In Car
Event > Phone > Phone ringing

Task: Take Call
Task > Wait: 4 seconds (so you get a chance to hear the ringtone and clear your throat)
Phone > Take Call

---

For the stops, I assume that you can get something working depending on the device getting power from the car or not:

Profile: No Power
State > Power > Power: Source: any, invert

Task: Switch Screen Off
Display > System Lock

Exit task: Switch Screen On (Here you need the app Secure Settings, no root needed)
Plugin > Secure Settings > Edit > Wake Device: duration: 1 minute (shouldn't matter much as your device should be set to be always on)

You can disable your screen lock from your Android settings so your screen is unlocked as soon as you restart your car.

I'll have a look into adding extra stuff for a long stop (something like "screen has been off for more than 30 minutes")
