I actually wonder how many here remember that actor and could name the show that still came from...
I'll take a guess at petticoat junction. I don't know the actors name.
Kids these days need their calculator app to do basic arithmetic. They're amazed that I can do math in my head faster than they can on their phone. I tell them that I received my public education before there was a U.S. Department of Education; that I was required to memorize the multiplication table in 2nd Grade (that's age 7, kids); and that I wasn't spoon-fed information: I was taught how to learn things on my own.

I'll agree with ya there. My generation is one of the earlier generations that were failed by the system in the manner of not being taught to think things through. We were taught how to find information but not to think. I learned that by starting to work at the age of 8. The modern US education system merely teaches the younger generations to simply regurgitate info. And firmly refuses to give any guidance about how to think through a real scenario.
I believe that we still have some of these out in the big shed.
They were indestructible. I'm surprised ours aren't around. I suspect we gave them to one of kids when they migrated.
I'm pretty sure that I bought a set to show some of my pit carvings.

A handshake or a verbal agreement were as good as a signature.
I was there. Met a Navy chick with brunette 80s hair and an attitude in 1986. Married her in 1990. This December will mark 36 years together: being crazy and being crazy in love.
Lowest that I can remember was something like 35.9.
I had my own car and buying gas in 1967. Regular was nineteen cents or so. There was a gas war and I bought gas a time or two at fifteen cents. I drove me and my three buddies to high school daily. They chipped in a dollar a week each for the transportation. It more than paid for the gas for all the running around and girl chasing we did. After nearly sixty years, we still all chip in for a cabin on a Kansas river. Friends till the end, hidey ho.
