In the market for a new Sprint phone

I've done it about 5 times but it is still there. I hold it until I get the red bar at the top telling to to drag it to the bottom which I do and then when I go back there it is sitting at the top of the list *shrug* I have a rogue blockbuster icon. :D

Ah! Unfortunately, you will not be able to delete applications that Sprint has hard coded into the OS. The only way to get rid of apps like BB, Amazon, NASCAR, Nova etc is to root the device and flash a custom ROM on it replacing the stock version!

oh.. are you trying to delete the icon from the homescreen?
or
delete it completely off the phone??

M5Rahul is right... you cannot delete bloatware from the phone .. it will remain in the app drawer. Rooting is the only way to get rid of it.

Personally? I have banned all things Samsung. Because of there stupid software upgrade policy.

But in saying that I love the cmc730 sm chipset on the samsung. Wimax 2 ready.

Not that the sqn1210 chipset is a bad one, but is getting a little dated htc.

Aah that explains it. Thanks I thought I was losing my mind haha. Guess I'll just have to deal with unwanted icons for now. I'm no where near rooting yet. Baby steps you know.

Hey I do have another question though. I got a heavy duty otter box protector for the phone and noticed that most of the stock leather belt clip cases don't fit it because of the bulk.

Does anyone know where I could shop for a pouch style leather case with belt clip that would work with the HTC/OB combo? I saw some plastic holsters but they make the phone stick out like a 54 Chevy hanging off my hip. Thanks

Have same problem. only thing close is a case made by CLC holds more stuff to..found at home cheepo (depot)

I found one on Ebay. Not exactly what I was looking for but the selections are slim for a case for an Evo with an otter box that is vertical carry with a non-rotating clip. Hopefully it won't look like an old woman's purse. :)

I love my Samsung TV and my wife loves her Epic 4g.

DLNA FTW!

So a bit of an update. Have had the phone for a little over 3 weeks now. I am really liking this phone. I have had some issues with battery life but it's not like I didn't walk into it knowing that was an issue.

Oddly I found that if I turn the phone off and charge it all night it holds a charge quite a bit better than if it charges with the phone powered on. Not going to question it but just enjoy it.

Phone is super fast on 3g so I haven't used the 4g much. I'm sure at some point I'll come in here whining about something that I can't figure out but for now I am super happy with the HTC Evo!

that is great... thanks for the update.

btw.. the charging thing... that is a known design issue.
for the protection of the battery life.. your phone will not keep it at 100% full charge. it is bad for any battery to be at that state.

so once it reaches 100%.. it stops charging.. and starts to run on battery till it drops to around 95%ish; then gives it a slow charge... up and down till you unplug. but will always say 100% at the time you unplug it...even if it is really at 95%ish. that is why it drops so fast the first 20 mins.

if you turn it off.. it reaches 100% and stops... and stays at 100% since the phone is off.

me.. i dont worry about it too much..
i need the phone on .. in case someone important has an emergency and needs me.

ps.. if you want.. when you wake up.. you can unplug it and plug it back in. that will give it a bump charge to 100% before you leave the house.

That makes perfect sense thanks for the clarification. On Wednesday morning I took it off charge and used it lightly for that day. Wednesday night I didn't charge it to see how long it would last. Surprisingly, it lasted until about 4:30 pm.

I am having kind of an issue that is bugging me though. When I click on the mail envelope on the front screen, I have it attached to a gmail and a yahoo account. The other day it started showing 20 emails in gmail that were facebook notifications of response.

When I went to look in gmail there were none there. Then I went to yahoo and found them there, So I deleted them all. Ever since then I am getting constant notifications in the top task bar of these 20 emails being in gmail when they were in yahoo and now gone. I have refreshed and nothing.

When I try to open one of them to delete they won't open. The screen just does a little jump to the left and stays the way it is. I cannot get rid of these and don't know what to do. Anyone got any ideas?

Anyone have any ideas on this? All the messages are still there and they don't exist in either the yahoo (I deleted) or the gmail account. It won't let me click and open them or delete them from the phone and I am getting mail notifications constantly for messages that are long gone.

can you use the browser and go to the full site to delete them? Maybe try a different Mail app if that one isn't working? I have 2 mail accts linked to my gmail, but I got it set up using my pc, so IDK if maybe you just missed a setting somewhere.... Not really sure, dude, just throwing suggestions your way.

I tried everything and finally threw my hands up and deleted the email account. Then went back and reinstalled. Problem solved. Before I got to both account on the home page through the little envelope icon. This time I left Gmail w/ the envelope and downloaded the yahoo app. Seemed to have solved the issue. I knew it was going to be a challenge getting a phone smarter than I am. :)

Great thread, Im exactly where "Liveit" was my 2 year is up in May and Im torn between the same three phones are are most folks I guess.

Thanks for the input & tips.

Ive had a Samsung Moment for a while now and was happy as could be, but Im hearing and reading that I will be blown away by any of the 3 coming up from a Moment. I suppose ignorance IS Bliss?

Great Input, Thanks
Dc

May??? dont do a thing..
since you been blissfully happy with the moment (sorry btw)
wait for EVO 3D
at least get a chance to play with it
before you make your decision

Planning on some research this weekend over a adult beverage or three. See if the upgrades or changes are anything that will benefit me. From the little Ive read there seems to be some question as to what version of the OS it will even be running.

Totally wait. The new phones will be heads above what we have now, and whatever you buy you will be stuck with for two years, so might as well have the newest you can get...;)
