In your opinion what phone has the best display out right now for verizon

Gotta go with my fellow GNexer here... If display is all that matters, on Verizon, there is no competition. (Well for another couple weeks anyways ;) )

I feel that the display on the spectrum is better than the gnex. The gnex just felt dull after the spectrum. Although next in line would be the gnex.

To be honest, these pentile matrix displays are horrible. iPhone 4/4S have the best displays on Verizon right now.

I find pentile is pretty much irrelevant at 720P resolution. But the depth of blacks of the GNex AMOLED screen are unbeatable. That is what I base my judgement on.

My wife has a Rezound and I have the Nexus. Eventhough she doesn't notice display quality, she will tell you there is no comparison between our two displays. The Nexus is better. Just turn the brightness up on both and go watch an HD video on them side by side. All this junk about pentile matrix harming the quality of the Nexus display is crap. The iPhone may be better for text display (slightly) but nothing out right now can compete with the clarity and color of the Nexus when watching video or playing games.

i also go with the 720p Super Amoled HD screen of the galaxy nexus, and yes when turning the brightness all the way up (which mine has sat on since day 1) and watch netflix = beautiful!

Agree 100%. Going from Super AMOLED to Super AMOLED Plus when I got my Charge was huge. The Incredible display was crappy and I swore off pentile forever. Even at qHD, pentile is unappealing. But jumping to HD makes a big difference as the pixel density negates the subpixel approximation arrangement. And like you say, nothing touches AMOLED for black levels. People who complain about the vividness of AMOLED are too accustomed to dark grey as their absolute black level.

Not sure about the S3, but the polling on the GN for auto brightness with the recent ICS upgrade is great. I've never used this as it has been horrible on previous phones, but now I use it exclusively and have no trouble with indoor vs outdoor visibility.

According to some people, they do say the Galaxy Nexus is too vivid because of SAMOLED. I wish I could make a claim on that, but I do not own a good, calibrated IPS or CRT computer monitor which will have more accurate colors than a traditional LCD (which are actually very poor in comparison, they tend to be more washed out).

Depsite the pentile screen though, you really don't notice it unless you are really looking for it and hold it near your face. Unless your eyes are as sharp as a hawk, you barely tell a difference a foot away from your face.

If I there is anything I have a beef about, is that it consumes an enormous amount of the battery. But besides that, its does look very nice especially in the dark.

I have always been a fan of the Rezound display. However, once I sold it and got my Razr Maxx, I noticed a few things it had been lacking. 1. Darn near impossible to see in the sunlight. 2. "draw something" or similar apps are a pain, because the screen can't keep up with the finger, unless drawn very slowly. I am not saying the Razr has the best display, but I would say that when you mix the best of both worlds (HD and Amoled), the Gnex probably wins that. I don't care how high resolution it is if it's not practical.
