Android Question

Hi..
I am facing a huge problem in backing up the data of my phone. Further, being thoroughly ignorant about the technological aspects does not help either in finding any effective option to get out of the existing mess.

That is the precise area where I am requesting your advice.

Following is a detailed description:
Device under question: Micromax (company) Canvas A210 (Model)

Issue: Inability to backing up the data.

My 'USB Storage' option has stopped working few months back, even though the phone gets charged upon connecting to the laptop. Earlier, upon connecting to the laptop I used to receive a 'USB Storage' notification, which does not appear anymore.

Hence, neither manual effort nor any app can be used in backing up the data. I tried with 'SimpleADBackup', which had an option of 'Connect to Wireless ADB'. Selecting that option prompted me to enter 'something' in 'hostost' format.

This entire thing sounded all Greek to me, and hence I have come to you.

Can you please offer any suggestion on the ways of proceeding from this mess?
Thanks.

Are you using a different charger or USB cable?

I've got a LOT of different devices and tend to mix and match chargers and cables. This can cause incompatibilities: sometimes the device won't charge, will charge extremely slow, won't allow USB storage, etc...

I'd say 9 out of 10 times this is the problem. Try some other chargers/cables if you lost the one that came with the phone, you might even want to buy a replacement on the manufacturers website.

I'm not 100% sure that this is the issue... but kind of like "rebooting your computer" or "resetting your router", it tends to fix this problem more often than not.

Make sure as well that your device when plugged in is syncing as a media device, not just an installer.

Sometimes mine gets stuck on that. You can easily switch this by just clicking on the "Device connected as Installer" and you can switch it to Media Device.

Thanks, for your effort and reply.

No, there is absolutely no question of charging my device with any other charger or cable other than what I have from company.

In fact, the issue of 'data back up' arose from my main issue of the deteriorating health of battery (presumably). In detail, the device mysteriously keeps losing its charge even when the charger is tucked up in it! There has been numerous occasions in the past couple of months when the battery actually went to deep discharge (and, then automatically switched off) even when the charger is connected.

In such a scenario the only option remains is to switch the phone off and charge the phone throughout the day (even then, the rate of charging is extremely slow).

I approached the service center and received the reply to deposit the phone (with all its charging peripherals of charger and charging chord). However, they cautioned me that "all the data will be gone".

And, that is the one and only aspect where I'm stuck right now. My phone worked like a PDA, and I've a huge list of contacts in my phone (not the SIM) as well as a significant number of msgs (SMS, not the WhatsApp).

I really cannot afford to lose such a huge amount of relevant information.

So, to sum it up, that is the present mess in which I have landed myself on.

Even though, I did not fully understand what you have been saying here, but I felt it might have been related to something 'MTP'.

To help you out more, I took a screenshot of the screen, which contains the 'USB' options alongside the 'VPN' and 'Tethering' ones. However, as I can see now that perhaps I am not allowed to post any image, here.

Describing it here that, the 'USB' option is de-selectable (off-colored, and cannot be selected) in stark contrast with the rest of the options (bright and can be selected).

Hope this helps!
