Help Incoming calls

Heya all!

I posted this on XDA as well, but got no answer, everyone is a bit stumped.

Around three days back, phone started picking up incoming calls on external speaker, the on-screen button, after swiping to answer the call, is depressed. I need to press it again and transfer the call on the internal speaker.

Only thing I've remember to have done when this happened was the fact that I was listening to music, through headphones, on Walkman app, when phone rang, and answered it, and used the headphones for that call as well.

To temporarily fix this, I plugged headphones in during a call, and then took them out. For the next three or four incoming calls, everything went back to normal, but today, one incoming call was also on external speaker.

Someone suggested it was the Socialife update that brought this, while another user said it wasn't so since he had the app disabled, and phone still behaved strangely.

I mention I am on 4.3, the .290 version, unrooted.

It looks like the earplug socket still thinks it's connected to a head set. If you play music from let's say Youtube, can you hear it via the external speaker?

Yes, it works, sound on external speaker for YouTube.

Edit: just started Walkman app, first, on external speaker, the during the song, I plugged in the headphones and sound was transferred to them, and then I unplugged them and sound successfully went to external.
So apparently, in apps, like YouTube and Walkman, sound and speakers work normally, but during incoming calls (only incoming) not really.

Its funny you should mention this issue, i rarely get calls, mainly use my phone for texts, email and internet. I recieved a call yesterday and it did the exact same thing you experienced, i swiped the green button, said hello and then could hear the person on the other side of the line through the external speaker, i had to quicky press the button to return it to the internal speaker???? I will need to do a test call to see if this is happening all the time or if it was just a one off.

Were not alone....

Answered call goes straight to loudspeaker - Support forum

Aye, not alone, and funnily, it started all of a sudden, for all, at the same time, it seems.

I just uninstalled Socialife updates, and see if it helps, although some users said it didn't make any difference.

Same thing happened to me, started a few days ago and did it about 3 times... I'll keep an eye on it.

Yes this started happening with mine a week or so back. Incoming calls only, and strangely one call I had didn't go to loudspeaker but the rest did, I don't know what was different with that one call. Will investigate and let you know if I come up with anything

I'm also experiencing this issue on the Z1 compact. I know it's a different phone, but they're so similar I thought I'd let you all know that it seems to be a common hardware issue / software issue

What I did, was to remove Chrome updates, clear phone app data, restart the phone, and all is well now, no more calls on speaker.
