Incoming SMS to auto display

Hi guys. I'm new here. Just got a desire from a blackberry and love it.

I do a lot of driving in my job and an app that made incoming SMS to auto appear on the homescreen would be of great benefit to me. I'm not interested in responding or anything, just something I can see onscreen as soon as it comes in without fumbling with my phone.

Does this app exist.

handcent sms has a popup notification on the screen. It's a free app, so you could check it out. Hopefully its what you are after.

I use SMS Popup also. Handcent is much more versatile and can be used to tweak notifications settings but it's been glitchy for me. Others love it so go figure. If you do choose handcent, make sure you disable notifications on the stock messaging app or the two will conflict.

Just downloaded handcent and tested it. First sms received worked a treat. Left the phone as if it was stuck to the window and sentmyself another but unfortunately it stayed blank.
It appears it's only sms 1 that pops up!!!
I'm going to uninstall and try the other.

As stated Handcent didn't fulfillmy needs.

SMS popup however is perfect. Just sentmyself 3 messages and each one opened the screen and displayed the latest message.
