Incorrect Voice Mail Notification

I've had my S5 (Verizon) for about one month and I've been very happy with it.

Except for one thing. It is constantly saying I have new voice mail when I do not. It's annoying.

Also, I'm a little confused about which method to check the voice mail. There is the method of dialing one. But there is also the ability to go the voice mail app and check them there.

But regardless, I have a notification on my phone today that says I have a new voice mail at 7:30 this morning. There is no new voice mail, either by dialing one, or on the app either.

So what gives?

Go ahead and accept Voice Mail to update to the new one they want us all to have....
once it is activated, go into your www.verizonwireless.com account and look at your profile features.
Find that fancy new name voice mail and turn it off...

that is what I had to do.

You may have to call Verizon to get rid of that message. I've had that happen a few times and they've been able to clear it.

I liked the VM app when I tried it, it's similar to the Google Voice (VM) app so was familiar. I haven't dialed to get a message in five years and think Verizon did a decent job with the the VM app. I do use GV and not Verizon but did give it a try, not bad at all.

I guess I'm exactly clear about what was said. I don't have a message to update my voice mail. So are saying one of my voice mail applications needs to be deleted. Can you be a little more clear?

No, you don't have to delete any app. You can use either the app or dial in to get your VM's.

If you are getting a notification that you have a voicemail but there really isn't one you can call Verizon and they can try to clear it on their end. Sometimes the notification gets stuck. Is that what you are asking? Now I'm confused.
