Root Increased battery loss with wifi

Just today I realized that wifi has been preventing my phone from entering deep sleep in many instances. I turned off wifi and now get excellent battery life. I'm a n harmonia rom and put the wifi sleep policy to sleep when the phone is sleeping but it doesn't seem to be doing so. As a result I have turned it off altogether. The sleep policy previously was on never turn off during sleep. Is anyone else having this problem?

No I don't think this has happened to me before. If you have juicedefender it can help you manage your radios and schedules. If you go to quick settings while you open your status bar you can put it to save power mode too. My guess is that it turns off wifi data etc. over long periods of time.

:goodnight:

I have the same problem. Not sure why exactly...when I had the Optimus V, I found wifi actually saved battery power over 3G. Not really sure how to correct the problem (other than turning wifi off)...I've just gotten into the habit of leaving wifi off unless I'm going to do some app updating, internet browsing, or heavy downloading. Otherwise I rely on the mobile network (or just live with the battery drain from wifi).

I also had the Optimus V (great phone) and also saved a bunch of juice from turning on wifi. I'm guessing that the battery life out of the box on this phone is so bad because the stock ROM probably has problems with wifi not allowing deep sleep. I'm using Harmonia so this would make sense. I guess I'll just have to leave it off except in the cases that you mentioned. Even 4g consumes less power than wifi.

Wifi uses less power than 3g and on this phone the qHd screen uses the most battery power since it's so big compared to the Optimus v

I'm not sure what it is then. But I know anthrax will put the phone into deep sleep whenever the screen is off. :) It could be your kernel's settings though I don't really know...

I tried Anthrax a while ago and didn't know that I wasn't entering deep sleep because of Wifi. I was getting really bad battery life with Anthrax, but I might give it a try again.

I've been getting excellent battery life with Anthrax and I have wifi always on and set to stay on even when the screen is off. So good that I even leave things like bluetooth on all the time now which is something I never did with my original EVO 4G.
