Incredible or Contiuum?

Quick question:

My Droid (the old one) crashed this week. Verizon said I could trade it in for the same, or get an upgrade.

When I started looking at new phones for the upgrade, I was surprised to see how expensive they've become! I tried to keep my new purchase in the $100 range. $200 for a new phone seemed to be a bit of a stretch for me right now.

I had it narrowed down to the HTC Incredible or the Samsung Continuum. Same price after rebates. I brought home the Continuum. Neat little phone, but I don't know much about all the little details that make one phone better than the other. The one thing I'm not loving about the Samsung is the amount of extra apps on the phone from Verizon (all the VCast stuff) and the fact that it uses Bing instead of Google. I'm pretty used to my Google integration.

So my question is, did I make a good choice or should I have gone with the Incredible? I want to make sure my upgrade is truly an upgrade from what I had and that I'm paying the money for a better phone.

What do you think?

I'd recommend HTC over Samsung any day. HTC is way better about updates and the Incredible is roughly equivalent (hardware-wise) to the Nexus One.

Samsung seems like they are trying to take steps to improve, but they have a long ways to go.

I'm pretty sure the Incredible is running Android 2.2 these days (which is a SIGNIFICANT performance increase over 2.1). I'm not sure what the continuum is running. From what I can tell it looks like it's running 2.1: Samsung Continuum Gets Updated, No Android 2.2 Included - Softpedia

I just went through the same decision and decided on the Incredible. The main driver for me was the huge number of users here with the Incredible compared to the Continuum and the sheer number of ratings for the Incredible vs. the Continuum on VZW's site and Best Buy's. That told me there was far more support out there for the Incredible.

The Continuum was attractive to me based on price, Best Buy had it for free with contract vs. $100 for the Incredible. The week of my upgrade date, however, they upped it to $70, and then I found the Incredible for $20 at letstalk.com and that cinched it.

I'll pass on the warning I didn't listen to (twice!) from Instinct users when I bought the Moment, don't buy Samsung! The Moment had many nagging issues with slow to implement and poorly executed updates. I thought they must have learned their lesson when my wife fell for the Epic and didn't listen to my own advice. The result? An at least 5 month delayed 2.2 update that even with its almost unfathomable development period, manages to be rough around the edges as if rushed out the door. Additionally, the Continuum is a extremely niche product that will garner little dev support. Lose-lose! Avoid being blinded by pretty hardware only to be frustrated by ownership, buy not Samsung.
