Hi all, i am glad to have joined your forum, i just have a quick opinionated question.

i am on vzn now, and have the crappiest phone imaginable, the samsung intensity II. now that i have embarrassed myself, i will pose the question.

my parents are willing to upgrade my plan for college, and i want android. i have read everything i can find about the x, and love it. but i have been all over the buzz at ces about the bionic and the thunderbolt, ad theyre making me drool. but i dont think i can wait for spring or a few months for them to hit the street.

also, is there a policy change on verizon about upgrades? if so, what are the stipulations?

so the question is, droid x now, or wait in pain with the sammy until spring. thanks for reading. :)

We have an old saying - a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I'm trying to imagine what can offset the wait for Model Whatever, the best phone there can ever be under the sun, so good it makes up for waiting for months with a Sammy Intensity II vs. a Droid X now - and I got nothing.

The existing super Androids are not suddenly dog food because new models were shown at CES. ;)

If you had something decent, that would be one thing - your folks are flush enough and caring enough to make it possible, go for Android now.

That's my personal opinion.

(Just don't let the fun get in the way of your studies - it's just a phone, it's just a tool.)

thank you for a very respectful, thoughtful reply.

i think i have heard that somewhere...

on that note, i will take your grand enlightening advice and thank you for your input.

no truer words have ever been spoken. if you happen upon an eighteen year old punk teenager with a chip on his shoulder holding a droid x and arguing to his buddy with a bionic that "it's just a phone, it's just a tool" then you'll know who i am.

thanks again mate. cheers.

Some or many say the Droid X is better than my Evo. I dunno. Either way - I'm still having a blast and a half with mine.

As tools go - the X is mighty sharp. ;)

Best luck, post back if more questions or whatever.

BTW - by the time some compadre is walking along with you with a Bionic, you'll be a Droid expert, he'll be a noob - and a tool if he doesn't take your advice on the best Android features.

Remember - with Android, what comes out of the box when you buy it is just the beginning.

snap, forgot to mention - Welcome to the forums!
