Individual notification tones?

Does anyone know how I can assign different notification tones to individual contacts like I can with ringtones? Is this possible without rooting or using a different text app than the stock one?

Yeah, I couldn't figure this out either, so I installed an app called Ringo, it's very simple to use and works great!

I'd say there are several apps available for this

You mean like for incoming texts? Or notifications for individual apps that send you notifications? If it's the latter you can use Light Flow.
