Root (INFUSE 4G)Installed custom kernal on 2.2.1 intended for 2.3.6

I was trying to install a custom kernal on my phone and it only gives me voodoo recovery, the problem with this is that my internal sd card will not mount and allow me to go into download and attach to odin. Odin detects my phone, but my phone will not detect odin and I can't do a format or factory reset. I feel like my hands are tied and I am considering a new motherboard, PLEASE HELP ME.
