Hey All,
Made an initial post as I wanted to reply to some guy and it would not let me send a link so I guess the thread is here I might as well say Hi.
Got my Optimus V last week. First Android phone. Thought about it earlier in the year and I should have since now I have missed the 25 a month deal.
Turns out there is also a Black Friday Optimus V deal and I even said to my wife that we should have waited, but we didn't so oh well. There would probably only have been like 10 per store and I would have needed to get up in the middle of the night. I do know I had to drive to another Target as they were out of stock at the original Target I went to, so don't know what the stick would be like on Black Friday.
Anyway, I have had fun rooting then applying custom ROMs to my phone. Using BobZHomes version on a new screen V. Works great. I will say one thing you guys sure like to scare people about bricking phones. But I followed the instructions to the letter and everything went fine. Also tested the backup of the stock ROM.

Better safe than sorry. You'd be surprised how many people arbitrarily root and then just start messing about with the OS and get bent out of shape when they bork something. Okay, maybe you wouldn't be that surprised
. The dire warnings are just to make people think before they act. It doesn't work most of the time, but we keep trying.
As for the link restriction, it's to cut down on drive-by spammers. As you browse around the forums I hope you appreciate how hard the staff works to keep the crap out of the way of some great Android discussions
