Initial Thoughts?

No worries, happy to help :)

I'd def try switching to 2G when the phone is idle, that works for me battery wise. It's a pain changing to 3G when I need it, but the benefit is worth it.

Widgetlocker replaces the stock HTC lock screen, you can add widgets, your own app shortcuts etc, it's a mega handy app. You can even set it up so it still retains the sense style lock screen. There's also an iPhone slider there if you feel nostalgic :p.

Just a few questions....

How are people finding the battery life? I've read some reviews where people say that if you charge the phone every night you will be fine. However, I've also heard from other sources that the battery won't stand up to fairly average use - ie. texting, calls, emails, browsing, the odd photo, quick blast on a game etc - without needing a charge?

Are there any issues with things like dust under the screen? I recall this being an issue with previous HTC devices.

So far with a fair bit of downloading apps, texting etc and a few games (roughly half hour), ive got c.65% with 6 hours of use.
I've not experienced any issues with the battery so far, coming from a Desire which lost battery overnight, the One X uses next to nothing when not in use.

Cheers mate. That's what I like to hear, especially as I am also coming from a Desire!

Apologies bro, I thought that was a term used on both sides of the Atlantic. In generic terms, it would just mean goes a bit crazy. In relation to the GPS, I meant when we stopped, the map/directional arrow would rotate, as if we were changing direction, it would start recalculating routes, tell us we were going the way etc. Seconds after we started moving again, it would correct itself. No idea if that's normal Maps behaviour, the only Android GPS I can compare it too is the DHD and that was terrible.

There was a clear view of the sky, a little cloudy, no sun as it was 10PM ish.

I've used Maps navigation a lot, that's definitely odd - when at a stop, it's dead stable.

Try GPS Status, then menu, tools to calibrate your compass and pitch/roll. The instant I do that, I go from 12 to 3 meter location accuracy.

Thanks on the wobbly, I thought it was some sort of googly bowl I'd not heard of, but I'm sorted out now. :)

I think its hit or miss really. I have been using the phone for 3 days and have mixed results.

The first day if the screen was on it just sucked the battery very quickly. It has gotten better but with the screen on Auto or higher percentage it will kill the battery quickly.

There is def a bug with the battery and HTC knows it and will release an update soon.

Yeah being an apple boy and using the cloud i like things that i can change on the Mac and it syncs to the phone. Just downloaded Chrome, signed in, imported my bookmarks, opened it on the phone and they are there!! Perfect.

I found the 2x1 digital clock, placed it on the bottom row between my fav and games folder.

Another question... what is a good music player?
Is the HTC Sense one any good?

I haven't had much time with the current music player in sense however I can definitely recommend poweramp, it is certainly one of the best players on the market with a very powerful EQ so you can make your music sound how you like.

Initial Thoughts:

Screen is quite simply stunning, by far the best I have seen, & also very good in sunlight. Sense 4.0 is a vast improvement on 3.0+ & I feel compliments ICS well. Battery life, while not amazing, is what I expected & is on par with what my Desire was achieving.
My only little gripe is occasionally when I press the home button i get a loading icon for about 8 seconds before the home screen is displayed...does anyone else have this or is it just me?

Overall though I am blown away.

That will be Sense reloading, it's not just on the One X, happened a lot on the Sensation, it's a problem with Sense not being kept in memory, if you root and flash a custom ROM it normally fixes the problem, I'm a bit disappointed that HTC didn't fix this for the One X.

Damn, I don't remember having that problem on my Desire, but saying that I only ran Sense for about a month before rooting and running CM7

Yeah, don't think it happened on the Desire (I had it too), seem to remember it starting to happen on the Sensation.

When I had the Sensation and running a custom ROM they locked Sense into the RAM so that it wouldn't close and reload, I'll root my One X and flash a custom ROM so this won't happen so I am disappointed that the bug is still there.

Am I the only one that thinks some colours, particularly greens, look a bit washed-out on this? Although this is cleaner, I think the colours were better on my Desire AMOLED

Sorted, had a wee test yesterday and it now behaves as I'd expect. I should've thought of that earlier, GPS status is something I've often recommended myself. :o

Hi all,

Had my One X since Sat am and have to say it is fantastic. I had the chance to play with the One X and One S side by side on Weds 4th and am so glad I chose the X (i was wondering how the battery would fare and had seen reviews saying how much better apparently the S was).
I have to agree with what others are saying about the stand-by time - this thing would last for days! I have my wifi on constantly and overnight i lose 3-4% only. Even my trusty 'old' SGS2 wouldnt better losing 1.5% an hour overnight, but the One X manages less than 0.5% per hour.
In general use i have just had 32 hours and have put it on charge with it just dropping under 30% remaining - my use is similar to how i used the SGS2 and i am getting very similar battery performance. I am very pleased.
Thank god i ditched the Xperia S after a couple of days (returned as it is atrocious) - this is undoubtedly the phone to beat.

Very, very pleased with it! :):):):):)

Hi all...
I got this phone on Thursday the 5th. Loving the phone! Upgraded from the Incredible S.
Just wondering if anyone else has found that the screen flickers every now and then?
Also it appears as though I have a dead pixel. Either that or somehow there is a bit of dust that got under the screen and worked its way near the middle. (I doubt that though)
