Injustice Gods Among Us transfer data

I want to transfer Injustice Gods Among Us save data from my HTC One X to my HTC One M8. I've tried using Helium and google + cloud but no luck. Any ideas? Btw, niether of them is rooted. I'm thinking of rooting the One M8. Do I need to root the One X too?
