Help Insane Battery Drain

I've had my S4 for three years now, and always had great standby time. Since a few months ago, however, it's been awful.

• I've replaced the battery just a few months ago.
• The battery stats in settings showed nothing suspicious.
• BetterBatteryStats showed nothing suspicious, as well.
• I have tried both stock & custom ROMs, neither made a difference in standby time.
• I have a locked bootloader so kernels are out of the question for me.
• The drain occurs even on a factory reset when the phone isn't even set up.

Any advice?

FWIW I have an article that suggested 'booting' into Safe Mode which disables 3rd. party Apps that may be draining the battery in the background. Then reboot and see if it makes a difference. Neil.

Did this happen before or after the battery switch. Maybe it's just a crap battery

ceepluspus, Did you activate the new battery by fully charging then draining and recharging?
Was it a genuine Samsung battery? If its a non-genuine battery that could be the low capacity holding charge problem.
