What's up everyone, I'm just saying hello. I bought a Droid 3 a few weeks ago, and have pretty much fallen in love with Android. I have pretty much just stopped using iOS now. I'm looking into picking up an Android tablet in the future as well, really excited about the Transformer Prime tablet. I'm also looking into turning a Nook Color into an Android tablet, haven't downloaded the Cyanogen (?) mod yet. As for me, I'm pretty much just your average high school student. I work at GameStop and I want to do multimedia in college (if I even go, but that's another totally different matter). I'm a fan of Linux, I use Ubuntu 11.10 mainly, but I also run Linux Mint on an older laptop. And of course I have Windows 7, can't really edit video without Premiere, none of the opensource offerings are quite the same for me. So... yeah.

Welcome aboard :) Sounds like with all that knowledge you will be teaching us a thing or two :D

How do you like Linux Mint? I have been hearing a lot of good things about that recently.

Linux Mint is a great introduction to Linux, especially if you're coming from an OS X background. It's a very clean interface that reminds me of OS X. Personally, my first computer ran Ubuntu, so for me that isn't really a big deal. It also has a tiered update system, so again it's good if you're new to Linux. The nice thing is that it still has all the power of Ubuntu, so it has an excellent balance. I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

Welcome to Android Forums!

I've been administering Linux systems and servers since the late '90s. It's come a long way in terms of putting together an almost-consumer distro. Mint is one of the best, IMO, for a first time Linux installation. Did the Red hat thing for a while but lately it's been CentOS for servers and Ubuntu for desktops.

I like Ubuntu for desktops and I actually like Mandriva for servers. On the summer I worked at a university and we actually ran probably about 15 servers with Mandriva. Mess with the code for a while and miracles happen... How do you like your Transformer? I'm considering getting a tablet and that one caught my eye, as I'm not a fan of touch screens.

I don't use it extensively, but what i do use it for, it has performed as well as anything else I've seen. There have been some complaints about build quality which you should probably read about in ASUS Eee Pad Transformer - Android Forums before you buy. I haven't experienced any of that.

I actually use my Nook more because I read a lot and the size of the Nook is much better. You'd be surprised how heavy a 10" tablet can be after 15 or twenty minutes.
