inspire 4g pricematch question

Lurker
I just recently upgraded (few days back) the phone for $99 dollars from AT&T. I checked with AT&T and they don't do a price match. My question is can I return the phone and buy the same phone from Costco and also would I be able to retain unlimited data plan (iphone 3g user) if I buy from Costco?

Please help.

Welcome. I have no idea.. I'm going to move your question to the ATT section.

You have 30 days to return a phone, it is a pain to go through it, what is the price from Costco? The last time I returned one to At&t it took 3 months to get my $500 back. I returned a phone to Amazon in December, it took 3 days after they received the device. YMMV

You can also look at prices at Walmart.com, Amazon, Wirefly, Best Buy, but each of them also has another contract that you have to sign that says you will keep it for 180 days or something like that. Not a big deal, if you dont swap every month. Best Buy is now advertising a buy-back program, not sure how good it is.

I haven't bought a phone directly from At&t in years (Wifefly, Amazon and my latest from Best Buy). They just overcharge us customers, even when you have been with them for years.

Be weary of authorized retailers and their abilities to keep the unlimited data plans. AT&T does not price match authorized retailers so that won't happen.

My experience with Costco in general is pretty good, although the reps aren't as good with the account side of AT&T service they do an ok job. But as I said before they might not be able to keep your data plan in tact. IMO keep the phone from AT&T. Not to mention, here in California we charge a $35 restocking fee on all devices returned within 30 days, which is stated on the back of the receipt and on signs in the store. So you might only be getting $85 back.

Hope this helps.

Its cheaper for the company to have you buy from authorized retailers so thats not going to change anytime soon... plus they are a business that sells plenty of phones in store... we have never been cheaper then the competition and we keep on selling... if the system works, dont fix it.
