install android???

I had a client give me one of my Point Of Sale tablets back asking me to fix it. He said he had rooted it then when he was trying to un root it he took out the wrong files and now it gets stck on the boot up andriod screen.

I have other systems they all are the same and all the same android jellybean. I have copied the whole root system files of another system but not having any luck putting them on the other tablet because i cant get into it to set debug or developer options.

Is there anyway i can fix this unit or re install android back on to it?? Not really sure what it is brand wise Im guessing it is a privet label brand for AZT

Cant bill them for the equipment because of how then contract reads my company is responsible for any and all equipment that is rented out to them. I did charge them a $299 on site support service fee. So i got paid for the unit. Just hate to trash it if i can repair it.
 
Does your contract allow them to modify the software?
Intentional modification resulting in damage to the product should be outside your contract.

Im just going to say yes because i never put anything like that in the contract.
The service fee coverd for another unit so that part is done and over. + it's not like im hurting for equipment i always have a few extra systems on hand from the tablets printers cash drawers to the readers.

just hate to scrap it for parts. My parts room is already full with computer towers and such..
 
Personally, if they modified the software that was on the device, they just 'bought it', lock stock and barrel.

Well like i said i did charge them a service fee to cover it & 99% of the time i wont charge a service fee to go fix and trouble shoot equipment or do any equipment installs. But with this i had to get paid for the equipment some how.

Thinking as to how i can add it in to new contracts on modified software. Im not sure if i could really even do that sense Google owens android and that was the software modified.

I could for the software that we built to handle the POS and credit card processing that is just a secure app that we load on to the tablet but other then that i dont think i can make any claims for someone doing any Intentional modification on android platform...

Guess i can just change the contracts in that section from " our company is responsible for any and all equipment that is rented out to them. " to our company is responsible for any and all equipment for factory defects but not limited to temperament of rented equipment
 
No, Google owns the google apps.
You own the equipment, and can disallow the modification of system software by customer installed apps.

Unfortunately, since this is a cheap Chinese tablet, the chance of finding factory ROMS and flashing software is pretty slim.

Given the above, I'd question the client as to why he felt the need to root the device. Call me suspicious, but if cc transactions are being processed then root access is the last thing you want.

I suggest adding "End-users are specifically prohibited from modifying the installed software as supplied. Users may however install additional software as required for their own use, subject to this condition."
 
To asnswer your initial question, unless you can find the exact make and model of the tablet, it's probably goosed.

Some manufacturers (even the lesser known ones) will provide you with the firmware/update files so you can install the original OS yourself.

Wow you are right about that.. That diddnt even register with my brain IDK why but.. Going to look into why they had rooted it to begin with because i dont want any type of data breach or lawsuits on my hands. I have worked to hard to get to the point im at and had to kiss way to much @$$ with the city and county to gain their trust and accounts.

Guess i will call AZT and hope i can get someone who knows what firmware is lol.. You have no idea how many times i have called a " Tech Company " to ask them something and get told IDK you know more about our product then me.
Not AZT just diffrent people at diffrent times.

If i cant get it i guess off to the parts room it goes until someone needs a screen or something but i really dont even like just fixing a part on a system if a client is having a issue i will just replace the whole unit.
