Root Install ClockworkMod Bootloader and Cyanogen 7 ROM to Samsung G5 I5500

Hi,

Thanks for the guide, I've just upgraded the phone to 2.3!! :) It's brilliant!!

The only question I've now is if there's a way to unlock the 3g bands the phone works on since it's currently locked for Europe's bands and here in Argentina carriers use 1900 and 850. I thought that upgrading the phone like that would do it but it didn't. :(

I doubt that u will be to get the either of those 3g bands due to the hardware not supporting it. Please may you tell me what basebandyou have so that I can see whether you have the right basebwnd for Argentina.

My phone's baseband is I5500NEJP1, I bought it at Three Ireland... Do you think it would be possible to use it in Argentina?

Well i saw your post earlier however I did not have the time to reply. Now I can guarentee that you have an older Irish baseband with the new version ending with JP2. I think an Argentina baseband would work but I am not sure, did your bluetooth work before you flashed to cyanogenmod 7?
 
Sorry for the bad post previoisly, I was typing very fast on my phone (GT-I5500) as well as not checking. Now I am writing slower and checking my sentences.

I think the bluetooth works fine... I've found this though (Basebands), I've downloaded the JP2 baseband and will try with it. Hopefully it will work :) I'll keep you updated on that. Cheers!
 
Sorry, I think I got you wrong. I thought you were saying I had an old baseband and that I should be updating to JP2 to make things work fine... JP2, on site at least is said to work on Europe.

What do you think, should I try any of those (JP2/LUJP2)?
 
I believe that you should choose the LUJP2 baseband as it is closer to your region or is for your region, but keep trying the South American basebands and see which is the bes for you.
 
I followed this guide on xda last week, which itself is copy'd and cleaned up from the mad team guide, but thanks for bringing it here as it is quality stuff and im now on cm7!
I do have 2 issues though,
when im tethered by usb (as i am now poor credit=no land line!) and i disconnect
by either
unchecking usb tether in settings/wireless+networks/tethering+portable hotspot
or
simply pulling the usb out

my phone reboots, and i cant seem to find a way round it?!

so im surfing as i am now, my phone rings, i bend down answer but cant remove the cable or i lose the call its getting to be ball ache any one else had this? or know of a fix?

and the other thing is that I now have a different looking fm radio app but for the life of me i can get nought but static out of it, again any one else have experiance/soloution of this please?

other than that im pretty impressed with it, infact now im typing i have two qestions too
what speed are you lot running your cpu and what issues if any are you having with it?
and
does any one know if gta3 will work with this rom? i brought it once for my old rom and it unexpectedly closed every single time i tryed to open it and im loath to pay again

I do not know about that usb issue as i do not do usb tethering, maybe you can try wifi tethering. I normally clock my cpu at 604 mhz. GTA III does work on this rom however no matter what clock speed you put the phone at it still lags even if it is the ultra performance version. Infact the reason I moved to this rom from stock rom is to play GTA III
 
I did as told and once the process was complete I got this on the phone screen

Then i restarted selecting the option on CWM ( as selected in the image, and I did not install the ROM - only CWM)

but I cannot boot in to CWM anymore with Vol down+middle button+power button.. It just gets me back in to Download mode. What am I doing wrong?
 
trying to download the Samsung USB files, but it says that the files have been removed from that site. any other links?
 
Sorry, but i have problems :(

I skipped this one:
2.5 First we have to wipe our old DATA which is not compatible with ClockworkMod. Wiping old DATA is necessary if you are installing for the first time. (click wipe data/factory reset and click yes).

and by fake tutorial made all other things not like in this how-to.
my i5500 is stuck on android sign witch is after samsung sign an before cyanogen spining logo... so what i should do? or i bricked my phone?
sorry for my language, and my curved_hands.dll.

Guys, I bought mine from Carphone warehouse. It's a 3 phone and got it unlocked when I bought it. It's got froyo as well. If I flash Cyanogenmod, then will the phone become locked again like it was when I bought it? Or will it stay unlocked? It needs to stay unlocked cause I live in bangladesh.

Please help
 
I am having an issue and wonder if anyone can help. When I use ClockworkMod, I can select "wipe data/factory reset," but it never gets past this part. It just hangs at "Formatting /data..."
Any ideas on how to proceed? The phone won't boot fully.
 
does this really works? i mean i saw someone commenting it doesn'g work so i just wanna ask. Plus the Samsung drivers link is expired or something. tnx in advance
 
Hi all!
I had to register quickly just to tell you this guide WORKS like a charm. Only problem I had was downloading the three last files, Samsung USB, Odin and the OPS file. But we all know by now that Google is your friend. The phone I'm using is bought in Sweden, so I guess this works with the Europa version of the phone anyways.
