Root Install Custom Recovery without FastBoot?

I had rooted before, but used RUU to get back to stock in order to get the update.

Trying to get back customer recovery however is giving me some issues. When I run 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img', it hangs for 30+ minutes with the progress bar not moving past the initial amount.

Any help would be appreciated. I am currently S-ON with an Unlocked bootloader

I have rebooted my PC and pulled the battery, with the same result each time I try. Have also tried several different cables.

Thanks

Try re-downloading the IMG and make sure to watch out for the file names... I'm not sure what else it could be. Make sure the recovery file is in the C:\sdk-tools\ folder too...

I do recall people saying they've unrooted, ran the update, and then rooted their phone again, so the OTA didn't stop anything.
I don't know if it's recommended to do, but you could try flashing a different recovery. I use 4EXT and I looked it up and I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848846 it contains the .img file of 4EXT (I can't find it anywhere else...) so this may be an alternative for you.

Using either the Goo manager or the 4EXT app will flash their respective recovery from within Android right on the phone.
