Root Install custom ROM as stock

My phone is an xt912 cdma Verizon Razr Maxx. I recently rooted it using the droid razr utility and installed safestrap v3.11, which I used to try a few custom ROMs. I settled on liquidsmooth v.2.9 being my favorite - mostly because it was the only one that worked 100%. My big question is: IS THERE ANY WAY TO WIPE THE STOCK motorola/verizon Jellybean AND INSTALL LIQUIDSMOOTH (or any custom ROM) AS THE SOLE OPERATING SYSTEM? All this android hullabaloo is new to me, my best guess is that I would need to unlock the bootloader?
