Hi friends

In xpwin.sp3 you know usb connection don't work with SamSung Grand. For win7 onwards it will automatically appear only in win explorer.

So in xpwin.sp3, i install Samsung drivers v1.4.2.2 (24.1M) which threw various drivers into a folder kept in Program Files SUCCESSFULLY. But when i plug in the SamGrand into this xpwin.sp3, it says "Problem installing MTP". At the tray keeps it says it found SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device and when the installation dialog box is closed, it say the usual "Found New hardware - Problem occur at installing.."

So where did i go wrong?

By the way, win7 will show the mobile as two objects without any new drivers. However Total Commander can't recognize them.
I installed drivers into win7 and TC still don't show the mobile, only win.explorer does.

I would try installing Kies (not Kies3) as it should install the correct drivers. You can always uninstall Kies as the drivers will remain on our PC

Thank for the fast response. I understand Kies works only with wifi at the PC, my PC has no wifi yet. Can i use a USB cable connect with Kies. Hopeful!

I think I will going for USB OTG Pen Drive USB that connect a pendrive to a Samsung. Needs to go hands-on to see if there is any caveat such as the version of android. Any of you care to advise.

I missed your earlier post. Kies can be used wirelessly or with a cable but make sure you use the one that came with the phone

Tried my hands installing Kies (abt78k, not Kies3) for Samsung GT19082 (Grand) on xpwin.3p3 [require connection to internet in the installation process]. My first attempt failed, on repeated got it done. Avast block it even though it was downloaded from Samsung.com, overcome by allowing it.

In this process, i finally found that I don't really need kies for cable connection. Kies will install the right drivers, from then after uninstalling kies, xpwin can access the mobile with the installed drivers show in Control Panel.

Hope this help others.
