INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE

Hi!
I am experiencing a problem with my LG-D373 phone running Android 4.4.2. Phone is rooted.

Since few days ago, I cannot install any new app because I get an error saying that I do not have sufficient space. I do have 3 GB of free space on my internal memory and 7 GB on external SD card.

Exact message I get while trying to install new app via Lucky patcher or Android studio is:

INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE

Please don't tell me to clear cache of some apps/delete random stuff - I tried all that...

Thanx in advance!

Hi @losmilosmi!

Since LP is often used for piracy we can't really provide any assistance on that front.

Do you get the same errors when trying to install an app from the Play Store?

Thing is, I cannot install any app from Play Store, nor can I install any app from downloaded APK files. That is why I used Lucky patcher for installing new apps - it worked for few apps.

Is your phone stock+root or are you running a custom ROM? What did you use root for - removing system apps, etc?

It's kind of hard to track down issues with modified devices, so as much information about what has been changed as you can provide would be appreciated.

It is stock(kitkat)+root. I use root generally to be able to access all files on system, i.e. to be able to read books, copy movies etc. This problem with 'insufficient storage' arose when I tried to move some apps to SD card using Move2SD app. I think I tried to move Play Store to SD in order to save some internal memory...

Install Storage Truth and post back the results, would give us a better idea of what's going on with your phone's app storage situation, e.g. this phone might have partitioned internal storage, and the actual area allocated for apps, it could be full.

Be aware anything that's piracy, we can't discuss or assist with here, e.g. Lucky Patcher...AF forum rules.

Unfortunately, I cannot install Storage Truth due to my ongoing problem. My internal storage is in one piece, it is not partitioned. Sometimes my free space on internal storage went down to just 200-300 MB but now it is almost 3 GB as I moved all movable apps to SD and uninstalled some apps.

I am not very interested in Android piracy - free apps do more or less everything I need. I just experimented with Lucky Patcher about year ago and crashed playstore. Then I somehow managed to repair it and it worked perfectly until 3 weeks ago, when I uninstalled updates in order to save some space. Then it started to malfunction, and now I cannot install any app and cannot log onto Google - my google services such as gmail, youtube and playstore cannot connect to google.

Okay, I've wiped cache partition by adb shell/reboot recovery and reinstalled google play services and it all went fine :)
Thanx for the replies though!

Glad you were able to get it sorted, and many thanks for reporting back with the fix!

It is a bit embarrassing - everything now works fine except some apps still cannot be installed - I get the same error!

"Can't install app - Insufficient storage available"

I don't see any pattern - it is not related to size of the app. For example, I normally installed a 40 MB game from Play Store but I cannot install 3.9 MB app (K-9 mail), because I have insufficient storage?!? Cmon, Android what is that about?
