Installed app on my SD Card, but cant play it

Hey guys:

I'm kinda new to the whole android thing, but I do know computers... anyway, I dl'ed a simcity game with utorrent, and copied the .apk file to my sdcard, as well as other files to the data folder, but I cant figure out how to actually run it on my phone.
I searched a bit, and all I could find was posts about downloading this Jf thing, and warnings about ruining the phone.
Is there a way to run this game on my phone without calling in a computer hacker?
