Hello all, new here. I have a samsung galaxy sgh-t989 hercules, root it and installed a custom rom so i installed titanium backup and when i opened it, it said that this device is not rooted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tried it but to no avail, the error message i'm getting is

"Sorry, i could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted, and try again.

This attempt was made using the "/system/bin/su" command."

Okay. What was the method you originally used to root? Many times, if you flash a stock rom, it will remove root privileges.

I used Atma's [GUIDE] Root & ROM the SGH-T989 here in this forum. I followed the steps and have installed clockworkmod touch. I havent installed a custom rom.

What version of Android is on your phone now? If it's 4.1.x I think you have to use TWRP recovery to root.

Yes i have 4.1.2 so then i need to install the TWRP recovery. Do i just put on sd card and install or do i have to uninstall clockwordmod, and if so how do i uninstall it?

If you installed CWM, then it's pretty much the same way. You won't need to uninstall CWM, TWRP will overwrite it and you should be good to go.

well i get error installing superuser with TWRP. I have to go to school but will be back later and see what else i can try.

Yes i did and shows superuser installed. Now when i reboot and install titanium then i get the error message i posted earlier.

Let me see if atma is around. I'll ask him to take a look and see if there's something we're missing.

Its rooted now, I think the problems is the android version so i installed 4.0.4 and now works. Thank you lunatic59 for the quick response and help.
