Installed Google Music | Frustrated | Need some help and pointers

I bought my first Android last year. It was a SGS3. I have also been carrying around my iphone because it has all my music a playlists.

I haven't been able to find an app for android that is very similar and simple as the iphone music player.

I care about 2 main things from a music player.
1) Ability to move songs (change order of songs) in the playlist while on the phone
2) Ability to place songs in the playlist from my computer; in a certain order so that it plays those songs in that specific oreder on the phone.

What has been happening so far is that I would create a playlist and it would only list songs in alphabetical order, not the order I placed them in.

If I could get those things out of google music I would be so happy and I wouldn't need to carry around my iphone.

--------------------------------------------------------------

So I downloaded the google music app and and I went on the computer and uploaded 2700 songs via google music uploaded for my PC.

I have ALSO uploaded those songs to my SD card so that they are stored locally on the phone. This is what I want. I don't want google music to access songs on the cloud, but rather play those songs locally on the device.

I made a small playlist on my phone in google music. Then I went to the browser on my computer to edit and add more songs to that playlist but turns out that i can only create playlist of songs that are on the cloud and not locally stored on my phone.

So i went back to the paylist on my phone and saw that all the songs I had placed in a certain order were now listed alphabetically.

--------------------------------------------------------

So should I stick with google music? is there a way for it t give me what I am looking for? or should is there any other app that does what I want.

Thanks.

I don't believe Play Music does what you want - hardly a surprise: it's easily the worst music player I've ever seen on a phone.

Your best bet is probably to look at the many other music players available. Your best bet is probably to Google the features you want and see what comes up.

The person who suggested it to me, said it was the best player ever.

Obviously it isn't, if it can't do these simple things.

Still looking guys, let me know

Here is a thread that gives a pretty good summary of a lot of different music players for Android. I'm still working my way through the list trying to find something that works the way I'd like. but you might want to check out Doubletwist, I hear it works fairly similarly to how the iPod/iTunes combination works.

Here is how you can only use the music on your device. Just click the "On Device" button and all your music that is on the device will be playable, while your music uploaded will not be seen.
