Installing Android on a "generic phone"

[haffa]

Hello everyone... I was wondering if it's possible to install android on a "generic phone" such as the LG C375? I have never used an adroid phone before and was thinking it would be fun entering the android world this way I have a background in programming, so I can handle command line builds. Just want to know if anyone has done this, so that I don't mess up my existing phone .

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Biggest problem is getting drivers specific to the hardware.

Android is very device specific. I have seen attempts to load it on non-Android phones and it's sometimes semi-functional, but it's never pretty. It's like trying to build your own car out a lawnmower and a rowboat. Even if you can get it to go, it's not going to be very practical.
