Installing apps

Im unable to install anything that goes into the downloads folder for 3rd party apps. I had a few things installed before but recently I tried installing apps and get to the permissions and the install and cancel on the bottom it wont let me select install its still in bold letters like you can select but I cant its like the install button isnt even there. It worked before I installed a twitter app and the tunein radio pro but I deleted them to see if I can reinstall them and now I cant. Anything from the amazon app store, websites anything it wont let me install it lets me download it the 2 step process but cant install. I do have the 3rd market app checked in the settings. I hope that makes sense its a little hard to explain
 
Go to settings, applications and check mark unknown sources
