Installing Drivers on Windows XP/7

The first thing to try is the C771 Drivers From Phone, located in Commando->Drivers->C771 Drivers from phone. Download, extract, run. If that does not work, then follow the directions on this to directly install the drivers.
Download the "direct Install" Drivers. OneDrive->Commando->Drivers->C771 Drivers Direct Install. They are the drivers for the phone, but extracted into their .inf and .sys forms. These can be installed via the find new hardware wizard in windows.
Plug in your phone, and make sure it is on charge only mode.
Open Device manager (in control panel) and right click on the device. It could be "C771" or "Unknown Device". with a question mark. Right Click and click update drivers.
Click "Browse my computer for software"
explain manual driver install.
click browse and bring it to where you have stored the drivers. click next or OK.
Let them Install
Repeat for any other yellow question mark devices.
Done

I would love some feedback to verify that it works.

I used to have XP long ago but it's since been gotten rid of. I really need a working serial key just so I can use it long enough to do what I need to do .

i have an iso of windows xp that, when installing it from booting to it, won't ask for a key. will that work for you?

As long as I can get past setup and use it long enough to root this phone then absolutely. I don't need to activate it, just need to get past the initial install and setup.

it's a disk image file used by daemon tools lite. i can convert it to an iso if you want. here is the daemon tools lite software. it's free:http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/downloads
not to mention it's a virtual disk drive so you can quickly mount images without having to set an iso image at VM boot.

EDIT: meh, i'll just build a VM of xp tomorrow and post it for everyone. and i converted it to an iso file

I just converted it to an ISO file. I had to get a different version on DT. For some reason the installer was fudged up on the normal one so I got a trial of Ultra and it works great.

when you made the virtual machine did you select the "i will install the operating system later" option? that's what I do. If you do not select it VMWare uses some sort of installing helper which asks for the key.
