Installing GB on an eBay tablet that came with ICS?

I have a buddy who bought a DVC A710 tablet off eBay for his kids to use watching vids and playing games. Right now he has ICS 4.0.3 on it but flash vids don't work on sites such as Nickelodeon.com. he emailed their tech support and got a GB file but can't install it. On my HTC I had to unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery and flash my ROM, what does he need to do to get Gingerbread on that tablet?

sorry i can't help with your query but didn't tech support give him any instructions on what to do with the file?
i can't believe they can assume one would know what to do with it.

Sometimes the tech support can be more helpful...provided one is fluent in technical Mandarin or Cantonese.
