Root Installing linux on PC with spectrum

I haven't tried installing it yet but I downloaded linux mint 13 today onto my phone and was wondering if there was a way I could use my phone like you would a usb flash drive to install linux from it onto my PC.

I don't think you can. In POST it won't recognize the device as usb storage because it hasn't loaded the drivers. Best bet is to take it off the device and put it on a thumb drive or a dvd because you can boot from a dvd just burn it in windows. Hope this helps. If your computer can boot from an sd card then you can do it that way to with an external sd card reader. Has to be a newer computer though.

Don't see why not.
Just checked, BIOS picks it up as LG mass storage device, looks bootable to me(in list of bootable devices). Don't know where the Mint would need to be on the SDcard though.
Don't need drivers for SDcard in BIOS, do have phone set to USB mass storage.
Oh ISO will have to be made bootable, if you have a ISO file.

Might depend on the computer then I know that I couldn't boot I like that I had to put it on a usb drive. But good deal if it recognizes it in mass storage the only thing you might run into is it might pick up the phone but will it pull it from the phone memory or the sd card? I would assume I mass storage it picks up the SD. I assume it depends on the computer.

It will work, must have the phone in mass storage mode AND have the iso written to the card with Unetbootin/WinDiskImager32. Tell bios to boot from the USB Mass Storage device and good to go. Depends on the PC though sometimes.

I have booted mini XP off the Spectrum, used it for a SLIC activation file transfer, and is entirely capable of booting Linux.

I also keep Backtrack on mine.
