Help installing ringtones and notification mp3

manic-me

Lurker
How do I take an mp3 file and get it to appear in the menus for ringtones and/or notifications on the Galaxy S?

I have seen reference to the following
/system/media/audio/alarms
/system/media/audio/notifications
/system/media/audio/ringtones

but I cannot navigate to these directories (or is there a trick to that ?).

If the ringtones are on your computer. mount your sdcard to the computer using your usb, navigate to system/media/audio/ringtones or notification and just drag and drop what you want to put on your phone.

if they are on your phone, use the app astro (from the market) to move them into whichever directory you want to.

When connected to the PC I see the following drives 1. card (external SD card) and 2. phone.

I cannot see the system directory underneath either of them. Any ideas ?

Thanks

Accessing the phone from the PC. Under the Phone drive.

Create a folder called media.
under there create folders "alarms","ringtones","notifications".

I just did this, copied an mp3 to notifications. Went to the phone's settings menu, sound and display, notification ringtine and teh new file appeared :D.
